MARION— Sippican Lands Trust will sponsor a poker paddle fund-raising event from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Rain date is Wednesday, Aug. 10.

Participants will take a paddle of about four miles that will take 90 minutes to two hours by canoe, kayak or stand-up paddle. The trip launches from Island Wharf off Front Street, Marion and travels through quiet, wildlife-filled areas.

There will be five checkpoints near SLT protected lands. At each spot participants will collect a card. The best poker hand at the end of the night wins $150, the runner-up wins $100 and there will be other prizes, including a cash prize for the most spirited boat.

Although this is not a race, participants must check in between 4 and 6 p.m. and plan to be out of the water by 7:30 p.m.
