Gateway Jr. Vikings win first round of playoffs

The Gateway Jr. Vikings hockey team took the first round of the playoffs with a 5-0 victory over Oliver Ames on March 25 in Foxboro.

Two goals in the first period gave the Vikings an early lead. The first goal was from Sean Fagan, assisted by Stephen Toal and Mike Houdelette. Matt St. John then added the second goal.

The team then grabbed three more goals in the third period. Nick Elicier scored one goal unassisted. Connor Kelly scored another, assisted by Tyler Gallus, while Sean Fagan assisted by Stephen Toal and Alex Hathaway added one more.

Keeping Oliver Ames scoreless were Viking goal-tenders Chase Cunningham and Teaghen D'Andre.

The win advances the team to the next round of playoffs, which will be held on Friday, March 30, at 5:50 p.m. at the Foxboro Sports Center.
