Marion named to state cybersecurity training grant program
MARION – The town of Marion was named Jan. 25 a recipient in the Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Training Grant Program for 2024.
The program “supports the efforts of municipalities and school districts to improve overall cybersecurity,” a press release said.
Training for program participants begins with an assessment of baseline cybersecurity awareness. Then, participants receive periodic training modules and simulated email phishing campaigns, after which a final assessment of cyber strength is conducted, according to the state Executive Office of Technology Services & Security, which offers the program.
Marion is one of 227 municipalities and public school districts across Massachusetts, encompassing more than 78,000 employees, to receive the provided cybersecurity training in 2024.
“Our administration is committed to partnering with our municipalities to move forward on our shared IT and cybersecurity goals,” Gov. Maura Healey said in a press release. “We are thrilled to see so many cities and towns prioritize cyber readiness through the Municipal Cybersecurity Awareness Training Grant Program.”
