MATTAPOISETT — Discover the unique history of the seaside town of Mattapoisett with walking tours led by guides with the Mattapoisett Museum.

“Tour Mattapoisett's past from its heyday as a shipbuilding center to the rise of summer recreation and the impact specific citizens had on the development of the town,” a Mattapoisett Museum press release said.

Tours begin and end at the museum at 5 Church St. The walks will follow Main Street to Shipyard Park and return via one of the side streets to the museum. The duration of the walk will be 45 minutes to an hour.

Tours will be held on the Thursdays of July 25, Aug. 15 and Sept. 12 at 5 p.m.

The first two tours will be led by Carole Clifford and Jenn McIntire. The third tour will focus on saltworks and will be led by museum curator Connor Gaudet.

The tours are free. Donations are welcome.
