Playoffs underway for Old Colony athletic teams

ROCHESTER — The regular season has wrapped up and Old Colony athletics have gotten underway in postseason play.

The Cougar football team will travel to Narragansett Regional High School on Friday, Nov. 8 as the first round of the Division 8 playoffs kicks off at 7 p.m.

The two sides are meeting for the second consecutive year in the first round of the playoffs.

On Nov. 3, 2023, Old Colony defeated Narragansett 26-6 to move on to the second round, where the Cougars fell to Hoosac Valley Regional School 24-14.

The Cougars are seeded ninth in the bracket.

The team has won five of its last six games after starting the season with two losses.

Old Colony’s boys soccer team also qualified for postseason play.

The Cougars entered the postseason with a record of seven wins, seven losses and four draws.

A 1-0 loss to Granby High School ended the Cougars season in the first round of the Division 5 soccer tournament.

The Old Colony boys cross country team finished in eighth place at the Mayflower Athletic Conference championship meet on Oct. 21.

On the links, the Old Colony varsity golf team finished in twelfth place at the Division 3 South Sectional match.
