Jan 12, 2025

Don't walk, don't run, but swim to sign up for the 32nd annual Buzzards Bay Coalition Swim across the New Bedford Harbor.

The 1.2 mile swim will take participants past the Butler Flats Lighthouse and through the New Bedford Hurricane Barrier, one of the largest stone structures on the East Coast. The swim will take place Saturday, June. 28 and registration for the event is now open.

The swim begins at Cisco Brewers Kitchen and Bar in New Bedford and swimmers will navigate their way through the harbor and channel until reaching the end in Fairhaven.

Swimmers will be greeted on Fairhaven's shores by a beach party featuring a live steel drum band, pancakes made to order, coffee and local beer.

The open water swim is in benefit of the Buzzards Bay Coalition and their mission of protecting clean water in the region. Registration cost is $30 with a minimum fundraising amount of $300 for adults and $150 for kids.

In the event of a cancellation, the swim will be held at Onset Beach.
