H. H. Richardson Lecture Series
MARION — The H. H. Richardson Lecture Series will continue on Tuesday, June 17 and will feature the historic Percy Browne House in Marion.
The featured guest speaker will be Mark Wright, who will present his research on the original design of the Percy Browne House and its significance in the history of Marion in the Gilded Age. Wright is a partner in the firm Wright & Robinson of Glen Ridge, New Jersey, which specializes in sensitive renovations and additions to historic properties.
Wright’s article, ‘H. H. Richardson’s House for Reverend Browne, Rediscovered,’ continues to be the definitive analysis of the 1881-82 house and its changes over time. His discovery of early photographs, archival research and close examination of the surviving building lead to a better understanding of the building, its first owners and its place in the physical and social landscape of Marion in the Gilded Age.
The lecture will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Marion Music Hall.
