Today is the first event of the Marion Art Center Art in Bloom series of events!
 
The MAC is hosting a reception today from 5-7 pm featuring creative floral arrangements. These arrangements are inspired by works in our show featuring paintings by Robert Abele and Mary Moquin, on  also currently on display in the MAC galleries.
But there are more ways to celebrate over the next few days! 
 
Art in Bloom: Florals in Watercolor with Peggy Call-Conley  Friday, June 14, 1:00-4:00pm
$50 for MAC members  $60 for nonmembers
Paint from a floral arrangement still life. All levels are welcome, but some painting experience is a plus! Students should bring any watercolor painting supplies they have, or pick up items on the list below. MAC member artist and watercolor instructor Peggy Call-Conley will lead the course. After the class, enter the MAC galleries to view the unique floral arrangements on display from the Marion Garden Group and other local designers.

Art in Bloom: Artful Flower Pressing Workshop with Instructor Meagan Souza Saturday, June 15, 10:00am-12:30pm

$40 for MAC members, $50 for nonmembers
Flower pressing is a slow and timeless art form. Materials are easily accessible and perfect for anyone who wants to extend the life of beautiful flowers and botanicals. Students will learn the basics of flower pressing, working with pre-pressed floral and foraged materials. Participants will learn how to press their own fresh flowers and findings from the home garden and create their own travel press kits to keep on the go. Turn petals and leaves into a beautiful piece of art that can hang on your wall!

Art in Bloom:  Flower Cookie Decorating Workshop with Samantha Asker  Saturday, June 15, 2:00-3:30pm

$40 for MAC members, $50 for nonmembers, all materials provided
Attend a flower-inspired cookie decorating class with Samantha Asker, owner of Disco Butter Cookies. Pre-baked sugar cookies, prepared freshly for the class, will be decorated with royal icing. Participants will learn 3-4 designs and have a chance to practice new techniques with instructor support. Each student will take home 6-8 cookies and a recipe kit with visual references for making cookies at home.
