Come see an authentic New Orleans-style jam session with some of the finest jazz musicians in our region as we invite improvisers of all levels to join in the fun. Jazz musicians from high-school age on up are encouraged to "sit in.”  Audience members who aren’t performing will get to watch the jam session take off as the musicians play well-loved jazz songs and melodies. Master of ceremonies is trombonist Phil Sanborn, Director of Instrumental Music at Tabor, leader of the New Bedford Symphony Seaside Swing Band, and founder and leader of the Buzzards Bay Music Fest Swing Band.  Phil will give a short talk on the jam session tradition, and there will be time for Q&A with the musicians.
