MATTAPOISETT — A new exhibition by Fairhaven artist Nancy Mitchell titled “Junk Journals and Painting in Acrylic” will be featured at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library from Sunday, May 4 to Friday, May 30.

The self-taught artist crafts junk journals from fabric, paper, beads and vintage book pages layered with colored gel — in addition to painting acrylic pieces.

Her painting career began at the age of 50, when she purchased a painting kit and then decided to take night art classes at the Greater New Bedford Regional Technical Vocational School.
