Alumni take on students for Hall of Fame fundraiser
The Old Rochester Regional Athletic Hall of Fame hosted two alumni versus student basketball games on Friday night. All proceeds from the event go toward the Hall of Fame's induction banquet.
At 6:30 p.m. the Lady Bulldogs of past and present took to the court.
The current players had a sizable lead on the alumni for most of the game, but the alumni made a comeback in the fourth quarter.
The alumni tied the game with two seconds left, leading to a two-minute overtime period.
Ultimately, the current students came away with the win, 38-36.
"This year it was good keeping up with them," alumni Rhea Desilva Ford said. "But it was still a challenge."
And despite the loss, the money is for a good cause and the players always have fun.
"I love this," Desilva Ford said. "It keeps us young."
The boys played next, with boys basketball coach Steve Carvalho taking the court as an alumni against his own players.
The game was close, with the alumni up 30-28 at the half. The score stayed that close or tied for much of the game, but the current students were able to pull away in the end.
The current team won 72-62.
