Architect Anthi Frangiadis sets up shop in Masonic Lodge
Architect Anthi Frangiadis’ move to Marion has provided an opportunity for her creative side to go wild.
Frangiadis recently opened her office inside the Pythagorean Masonic Lodge on Spring Street, opposite the Town House and Sippican School. Given the large volume of foot traffic in the area, Frangiadis decided to turn her reception room into an artist’s haven.
“This location really lends itself to having a showroom,” she said. “I call it a drawing room. I want to use it as resource for different clients.”
The open room features the work of five South Coast artists, including sculptor Alfred Glover, tapestry artist Patricia Walker, potter Henry Gleason, cabinetmaker Richard Gray and planter Duken Delpe.
“I want to use the artwork as a base for something you could use in your house. They’re meant to be inspirational pieces,” she said. “I’m pretty excited about this because it’s representative of my creative side.”
Her drawing room will also include a fabric line and a cabinet line. Frangiadis said she plans on showcasing works by different local artists for a period of six to eight weeks.
She will also hold an artist open house on July 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Beyond the showroom, Frangiadis flexes her creativity as a full-service architect.
Her services include interiors, land-use planning and designs for both commercial and residential properties.
An Onset resident since the 1990’s, Frangiadis has worked for architectural firms in Wareham, Boston and Chatham.
Three years ago she decided to go into business for herself with Archit8, which she ran from her home in Onset.
Archit8 has since been renamed Anthi Frangiadis Associates. Why, you might ask?
“A lot of people couldn’t pronounce Archit8,” she said.
Frangiadis said it was the work that brought her business to Marion. With most of her clients being from Marion and Mattapoisett, Frangiadis said it was time to move closer to them.
“I think this has the potential to take off,” she said. “There’s work to be had. I’m glad I did it.”
