Artisan Expo arrives June 29
Anthi Frangiadis Associates have crafted a different kind of exposition.
“There are a lot of craft shows people can choose from,” said Angela Kimball, an associate at the Marion architecture and design firm. “We wanted a show related to artisan works that can be used in, and around, the home.”
The first ever Southeastern Mass Artisan Expo takes place over two days, Saturday, June 29 and Sunday June 30 on the grounds of Sippican School.
The works of artists and designers from Massachusetts and Rhode Island will be on display in at least 34 booths beneath a Sperry tent.
The show’s focus is on architectural applications for interior and exterior home use, Kimball said. Visitors will able to browse works of clay, glass, stone, wood, metal, fiber, and mixed media.
“We like to think of the exposition as a home show, with an artistic flair,” Kimball said.
Many artists will create one-of-a-kind pieces for customers. Handcrafted furniture and custom-built cabinets can be commissioned. One attending artist, Kathy Hallam of Whimsical Notions, creates fine finishes for walls and floors, including wood graining. Samples of her work are displayed in the Drawing Room found inside Anthi Frangiadis Associates.
“We’re very excited about this and the artists are excited as well,” Kimball said.
Tickets for the show cost $5 in advance and can be purchased at Anthi Frangiadis Associates, 11 Spring St., Marion or online www.anthif.com, where a list of attending artists can be found. Tickets bought the day of the event cost $10, children younger than 12 attend for free.
Due to the nature of the work on display organizers have requested no pets or strollers be brought inside the tent.
The Pythagorean Lodge Ancient Free and Accepted Masons will provide food and beverage. Proceeds will benefit the Masonic Angel Foundation, which provides money to schoolchildren in need.
New England Home and Cape Cod Life Publications is sponsoring the exposition.
