The Marion Art Center is taking artists on an island adventure on Saturday, June 22.

Artists will travel from New Bedford to Cuttyhunk Island in Gosnold to paint original portraits from various locations on the island for the annual Cuttyhunk Plein Air Festival. Artists will travel to the island in the morning and have their portraits completed by mid-afternoon, when jurors Pamela Hoss, Jay Ryan and Bob Smith will assess and award prizes for their work.

At 3 p.m., the center will host a “_ARTY!” reception where visitors can talk with artists and purchase original paintings. The festival will conclude at 4 p.m.

Registration to paint at the event is sold out, according to the Marion Art Center. Guests are invited to visit the island to see painters in action and to attend the “_ARTY!” celebration at the end of the day.

A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, June 23. In the event of needing to use the rain date, the festival webpage will be updated by the Friday night before the event, according to the Marion Art Center.
