Artwork of  'sustainability' artist Ivana George debuts Aug. 25, at Marion studio

Aug 22, 2018

Multi-media artist Ivana George will bring her unique photographic artwork and  viewpoint on sustainability to "The Drawing Room," the studio of Anthi Frangiadis Associates at 11 Spring St., along with the works of several other artists, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25.

George's “Sustain” series was featured in the April edition of South Shore Living magazine. The series explores concepts of sustainability through organic urban agriculture. It celebrates the beauty of fruits and vegetables grown in the backyard, and revels in the sensual enjoyment of these flavors of the Earth.

George’s Sustain series includes monochromatic mixed media artworks using image transfer and the 19th century photography process called Cyanotype. The mixed media artworks portray George, a tenured art professor at Bridgewater State University, planting and tending her own urban garden.

Other featured artists and artisans that day are: John Nadeau of JNJ Woodworking, Janice Card, The Glass Connector, Dannie Engwert, Jasmine Keane, Hog Wild Pottery, Carol Way Wood, Emily Condon Design, and Stephanie Stroud Studio.

There will be demonstrations throughout the day, including Nantucket basket making with Jan Card of Carver, loom weaving with Dannie Engwert of Marion, and felted wool landscapes with Stephanie Stroud of Swansea.

The exhibition of the artwork will be ongoing afterwards and available to view during normal business hours. For more information, call the studio at 508-748- 3494.
