Bishop Stang senior Max Brulport signs with Stonehill College
Bishop Stang High School senior Max Brulport of Rochester will be pitching NCAA Division II baseball for Stonewall College this fall after signing a letter of commitment with the school this week.
According to a press release from the school, Brulport signed the letter in a ceremony attended by his parents, Beth and Mark Brulport, a few friends, and coach Brian Rose.
The release noted that left-hander has dreamt of playing for Stonehill since his freshman year of high school when he heard stories about the program from his pitching coach. Following a campus visit over the summer, Brulport said he liked what he saw
“That’s what I want,” he said. “That is the same culture that we have here at Stang and is what Coach Rose tells us, that we must work for it in order to get to where we want to be”.
Brulport will finish out his career in the Spartan rotation with two other left-handed pitchers and a team that he says will “really be special” this year.
Even when when the pandemic brought his hopes for a junior scouting season to a halt, Brulport pivoted and used the downtime to work on his arm and pitches — achieving fastballs in the low 80s, along with a strong curveball and a developing changeup.
