MARION — On Friday, Dec. 8, the Marion Natural History Museum got a visit from Massachusetts State Fish and Wildlife biologists Jason Zimmer and Steven Wright, who gave a “standing room only” presentation about the Commonwealth’s black bear population.

According to Zimmer and Wright, the black bear population is rapidly expanding into the eastern part of the state.

And according to a Marion Natural History Museum press release, [Zimmer] presented “good tips to keep black bears out of our property including removing bird feeders, covering and keeping our garbage contained, and how to keep bears out of our livestock.”

The press release went on to say that “The museum wishes to thank Jason and Steven for the wonderful presentation.”
