The Old Rochester Regional High School boys basketball team will continue to defend its Division III state title following a 82-60 win over Carver Thursday night.

Playing at home, the Bulldogs easily defeated the No. 13 seeded Crusaders before a raucous and packed gymnasium.

Guard Evan Santos, a senior, and center Matt Valles, a junior, were the high scorers of the game, earning 17 points each.

A large majority of the team contributed to the win, with 11 of 15 players sinking baskets.

The Bulldogs (No. 4 seed) will face Apponequet (No. 5 seed) on Saturday, March 5 at home starting at 6 p.m. Both teams have regular season records of 16-4.

Last year, the Bulldogs defeated the Hoosac Valley Hurricanes 61-47 to earn the school’s first state championship for basketball.
