Cape Verdean singer gets audience on their feet
MATTAPOISETT — American-born Cape Verdean singer Candida Rose got the audience on their feet with her performance of songs from her debut album on Thursday, June 1.
Rose is a vocalist, song-writer, entertainer, music and cultural educator. During her performance of songs off her debut album “ “KabuMerikana: The Sum of Me” at the Mattapoisett Museum, Rose presented on Cape Verdean culture.
According to her website, Rose’s music is influenced by Cape Verdean roots and American Jazz she calls “KabuJazz.”
“She captivates her audiences and stirs them with a uniquely compelling voice that combines the overtones and undertones of jazz, rhythm and blues, and gospel with just the right touch of international spice,” wrote the Mattapoisett Museum on their website.”
