Celebrate two anniversaries with Rochester Historical Commission

ROCHESTER — The Rochester Historical Commission will host three events celebrating the country’s 250th anniversary and the Plumb Library’s 50th.

At 10 a.m. at the memorial facing Town Hall, the commission will hold a recognition of the Rochester men who fought in the Revolutionary war. Chris Gerrior, the Tri-Town Veteran’s agent, will speak.

Afterwards, there will be a short walk and talk on the history of Rochester’s libraries.

There will be games for all ages at 11 a.m. with prizes for all. 

These will include a game testing participants’ balance, trying to get a mini helicopter over the finish line and a partner game called “hailey over.” This game was invented in the early 1800s and played at Town Hall.

At noon the commission will present a historical plaque to the Plumb Library to honor its 50 years of serving the community.
