Clara Gonsalves, 87, of Wareham died Thursday, Feb. 25 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. She was the wife of the late John R. Gonsalves.

Born in Wareham, she was the daughter of the late Josephine (Andrews) Gonsalves. A lifelong resident, she worked as an assembler for H.L. Bouton Co. in Buzzards Bay before she retired.

She is survived by her children, Cindy J. Martin and her husband Joseph of Acushnet, Deidre Day of Wareham, Sandra Cabral and her husband Richard of Rochester and John Gonsalves and his wife Roberta of East Providence, Rhode Island; her sister, Beatrice Fernandes of Wareham; her grandchildren, Richard Cabral, Jr., Alycia Lopes, David Cabral, Melanie Gainey, Melodie Gonsalves, Kerry Paradise, Jonathan Day and eight great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Shirley Antone and her brother, the late Manuel Fernandes.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham on Monday, Feb. 29 from 5 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 1 at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Tihonet Road, Wareham at 10 a.m.
