Contested Town Election races to watch in the Tri-Town

Mar 16, 2021

Races for the upcoming Town Elections in Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester are starting to take shape, with contested races forming in Marion and Mattapoisett.

In Mattapoisett, there are three potential candidates for Paul Silva’s Select Board position. Jodi Lynn Bauer, Ryan Macallister and Nicki Demakis have all taken out nomination papers for the position. Demakis is the only candidate to have returned her papers to the Town Clerk. Silva will not be running for reelection.

The race for Highway Surveyor has two candidates — Garrett Bauer and Gary Bowman. Both candidates have taken out nomination papers, but neither have returned them to the Town Clerk as of March 15. Incumbent Barry Denham is not seeking reelection.

In Marion, the Planning Board has four candidates vying for two spots. Andrew Daniel, an appointee to the board, is seeking election alongside Jonathan Henry, Tucker Burr and Tom Friedman. The two spots to be filled are Daniel’s appointed position and a position on the board that was left open when Kristen St. Don Campbell retired from her position. All four candidates have taken out nomination papers, but none have been returned to the Town Clerk’s office.

There are currently no contested races in Rochester.
