Demolition order lifted at condemned house

Jan 20, 2021

MARION — After conditions improved significantly at a condemned house at 464 Front Street, the Board of Health lifted its demolition order on the property at a Jan. 20 meeting.

The house is owned by Lauren Fisher, who was recently given five years probation and a congruent animal ban following animal abuse charges.

The house was condemned on Dec. 11, 2019, when Fisher was arrested for two counts of animal cruelty, interfering with a police officer, and resisting arrest.

Aside from what Public Health Agent Dave Flaherty said was “just a little bit of a mess in the yard,” the site has seen large improvements since the now-rescinded demolition order was extended for a month in mid-December.

“It’s a big 180 — I think — for the site,” Flaherty said.
