Digging out after the storm in Mattapoisett!

Jan 3, 2014

Mattapoisett residents were met with a marshmallow world when they ventured outside this morning to stretch their legs, shovel some snow and even go for a swim!

The fluffy snow caused drifts in many areas and was not the slushy snow combination that resident Stand Ennis said is normal for the area.

"This is not typical Mattapoisett snow," said Ennis, as he shoveled out his driveway.

Colleen Johns and Rachel Deary went for a walk with black Labrador, Remy, who was a little wet after a trip to the beach.

"He jumped in after a duck. Crazy dog!" said Johns.

While Johns and Deary were on foot, Jon Wilson and his son took advantage of the powdery stuff on their snowmobiles.

"We don't get to use them often," said Wilson.

Mattapoisett Police Captain Anthony Days said residents should contact them with any problems, and he advised people to check on elderly neighbors.

Otherwise he said, "It's just another snowstorm in New England!"
