New Year's Day left one 18-year-old Rochester man spinning when he swerved to avoid a deer.

The accident occurred in the 400 block of Snipatuit Road around 5:45 p.m. Although the driver was unharmed, the same can't be said of his car, which, according to police, struck a tree, spun into a rock and flipped onto its side. The car ended up against a telephone pole.

The man's name has not been released.
