Eggs-cellent adventure at Mattapoisett Easter hunt

MATTAPOISETT — Finnian Patrick was so eager for the Ned’s Point Easter egg hunt held Sunday, April 10 that he kept a countdown chart at home, eagerly crossing off each day as the event drew closer.

The five-year old Marion boy “loves Easter egg hunts,’’’ his mother Lauren Patrick reported.

He was not alone, judging by the crowd that filled the park at Ned’s Point Lighthouse under perfect spring sunshine to grab eggs scattered by the Mattapoisett Lions Club.

Jackson Janeiro, 4, of Mattapoisett, had to miss last year’s event because the family was in quarantine, his mother Caitlin Lavoie said.

“We decided that this year, we’re going to do it,’’ she said. “He’s very social and loves interacting with the kids.’’

Victoria Rogers, 6, of Marion, was happy with the results of her search. She was pleased to discover that “there were a lot of Easter eggs with candy inside.’’

The day was “so much fun,’’ Mallan Emmons, 7, of Mattapoisett reported as he and his sister, Beau Emmons, 4, checked out what they found in their baskets.

The Mattapoisett Lions Club has hosted the Easter egg hunt for seven years, club member Rob Haley said.

“This is a way of giving back to the community and involving the kids,’’ he said. The community has supported the Lions Club in its many activities, Haley pointed out, so this is a way to return the favor by offering something to the public.

“It’s one way we can give back,’’ he said.
