Eversource resolves electricity pole placement problem
Eversource altered the site of two new electricity poles after Selectmen and abutters requested a review of the plan.
The new poles to be placed on River Road were proposed for two locations in front of Cathy Jackie and Tom Grondski’s home. One pole was to be in front of the couple’s business sign, the other a few feet from their driveway and in a dangerous curve.
At the board's Jan. 12 meeting, Selectmen said they would not agree to the pole placement and asked representatives from the power company to meet with the couple to discus other options.
On Tuesday, Zen Jordan, a representative from the company, told Selectmen that Eversource would indeed relocate the poles. The placement met with approval from Selectmen and Grondski.
The new installation is part of a larger project to boost capacity before a solar farm on Crystal Spring Road goes online.
Also during the conversation, resident Bob Spooner asked if the company would be replacing leaky gas pipes in the River Road area. Collyer said the Fire Department had also noticed a number of leaks and Selectmen would send a letter of inquiry to Eversource’s gas division.
