MATTAPOISETT — Both exciting programs and news are coming to the Young Adult section of the Mattapoisett Free Public Library.

The library announced that Children’s Librarian Amanda Lawrence has decided to transition to Young Adult Librarian.

Lawrence has “loads of ideas to make the Student Lounge better than ever,” according to a Mattapoisett Library press release.

In terms of future programming, teens and adults can learn the skill of needle felting at “Make Your Own: Needle Felted Wooly Sheep” on Saturday, March 23 at 1 p.m. Attendees will be guided through a step-by-step process of building a felted sheep, while also learning techniques that can be applied to future projects.

On Tuesday, March 26 at 4 p.m., the library will hold the rescheduled “Doodle and Tranquility Workshop” with cartoonist Cara Bean. During the hands-on and visual thinking mindfulness workshop, Bean will guide participants through creative exercises aimed at lessening anxiety and building confidence. The program is recommended for ages 10 and up.

Both programs are free and open to the public. Register at MattapoisettLibrary.org. Contact Michelle Skaar at mskaar@sailsinc.org with any questions.
