Fall programs at Taber Library

Memoir writing workshop
The Sippican Historical Society and Elizabeth Taber Library have teamed up to offer a free, four-session memoir writing course, led by Marion’s Judy Rosbe, an author and historian with five local history books to her credit.
The course has two remaining Wednesday meetings on Sept. 24 and Oct. 1. The course can accommodate up to 12 participants and there are some spaces still available. Registration is required.
The Historical Society has donated copies of “Legacy: A Step-by-Step Guide to Writing Personal History” for use by all course participants.
“Revisiting Armageddon” with local author
On Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. author Ray Covill will read from his book “Revisiting Armageddon: Asteroids in the Gulf of Mexico,” followed by a discussion and book signing.
An author and researcher, Covill explores the enigmatic mysteries surrounding earth's constantly changing evolution. Born and raised in the Fairhaven/New Bedford area, Covill was raised with an understanding and respect for nature and the beautiful planet on which we live. Many of his days are spent birding, boating or enjoying the outdoors.
Fall story times for kids
Story times for children between the ages of three and five begins Oct. 6 and runs through Nov. 24. Children are invited to enjoy stories, finger-plays and crafts Monday mornings at 10:30.
Children 24 to 36 months will have story time beginning Oct. 1 and running through Nov. 26. Children must be 2 years old by Oct. 1to attend and must be accompanied by adult companions. The half-hour of stories, finger-plays and crafts takes place at 10:30 on Wednesday mornings.
Fall Lapsit, for children birth through 23 months and their caregivers, begins Oct. 7 and runs through Nov. 25. Each Tuesday morning program begins at 10:30 and includes a 20-minute “story time” followed by 20 minutes of socializing. One child per “lap” please!

One-on-one technology help
Anyone who needs one-on-one help with a new device (iPhone, iPad, e-reader, laptop, etc.) or has a basic technology question can stop into the Elizabeth Taber Library any Tuesday morning (11 a.m. to 12 p.m.) or Thursday afternoon (4 to 5 p.m.) in October and November (excluding Oct. 14 and Nov. 11) and Library Director Libby O'Neill will walk you through it! First come, first served.
Those who cannot make those times can call Libby O'Neill at 508-748-1252 to make a one-on-one appointment.
Borrow iPads and Kindles
Patrons are now able to borrow iPads and the library is reintroducing Kindle lending.
