February events at Plumb Library

Feb. 16 – At 6:30 p.m. the “Just the Facts” nonfiction book discussion group will meet to discuss “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nahisi Coates. In a series of essays written as a letter to his son, Coates confronts the question of race in America and how it has shaped American history.
Feb. 21 – At 10:15 a.m. the Council on Aging book club, held at the COA building on Dexter Lane, will discuss “Letters from Skye” by Jessica Brockmole. Copies can be picked up at the library.
Feb. 23 – From 4:30-5:30 p.m. Mrs. Williamson from Rochester Memorial School will host part two of “Learn About Instruments.” She will bring percussion instruments with her, such as drums, cymbals and rhythm sticks. Register through the events calendar at plumblibrary.com.
Feb. 23 – At 6:30 p.m. the Café Parlez book club will meet to discuss “The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake” by Aimee Bender. On the even of her ninth birthday, Rose Edelstein bites into her mother’s homemade lemon cake and discovers she can taste her mother’s emotions. Food suddenly becomes a peril and a threat to Rose. Copies are available at the front desk.
Feb. 24-25 – From 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Friday and 1-1:45 p.m. on Saturday, Junior Friends PlumBridget and PlumbElla will teach the basics of ballet. PlumBridget studies at Dancemakers and PlumbElla is a student at Attitude Dance. Space is limited and registration is required.
Feb. 25- Amos the greyhound is back from 10:30-11 a.m. for children in grade three and above. Space is limited to six children. Register online.
