Fire chief requests new ladder truck
The Board of Selectmen heard spending requests that may bring a new generator and a new ladder truck to the fire department.
On Monday, Town Administrator Richard LaCamera told Selectmen $14,900 must be transferred from the reserve fund for a generator. The money would be used to replace the fire departments 25-year-old generator, which recently broke down.
“This is an absolute necessity. We have to have this in case of an emergency,” LaCamera said. The request will be put towards the Finance Committee, he said.
Rochester Fire Chief Scott Weigel also informed the board a new ladder truck was needed. Recently, Weigel and another firefighter travelled to Boston to inspect a 2002 ladder truck the city wanted to sell.
The truck would replace the department’s 1972 truck, which is serviceable, but needs costly repairs. Selectmen took the information under consideration.
