ROCHESTER — A grant of $279,994.24 has been awarded to Old Colony Regional Vocational High School to provide training and placement services to underemployed individuals in the culinary arts and welding fields.

The funding, which was announced July 15 by State Rep. Bill Straus, D-Mattapoisett, was provided by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development in connection with the Office’s Career Technical Initiative Grant Program.

“I am pleased that the legislature was able to provide this level of support to programs that assist those that are seeking and in need of job training, and I commend the administration and Old Colony for their efforts in making sure this funding is put to its best use,” Straus said.
