Three Tri-Town communities have received state funds to purchase automated external defibrillators for first responder vehicles, State Rep. Bill Straus, D-Mattapoisett, has announced.

Marion and Rochester fire departments each received $2,108 and the Mattapoisett Fire Department was awarded $1,577.38.

The funding was initially made available by the legislature in July 2021 as part of the fiscal year 2022 budget and drew interest from more than 200 municipal applicants, according to information provided by Straus’ office.
