The Marion Garden Group's second Plant Sale bloomed despite uncertain weather on Saturday, May 13.

Turnout was high at Bicentennial Park, across the street from Marion's Town House. Many species of plants were available for sale, many of which came directly from the flower patches of Garden Club members. Flower offerings including lily of the valley, violets, and daisies, as well as more exotic species like Siberian irises. Strawberry fruit plants, a favorite of humans, deer and pesky birds, were also available.

Members of Sippican School's Garden Club were also on hand to offer plants that they grew themselves. By 10 a.m., their stock of $3 plants had been completely wiped out, and the 50-cent seed packets they packaged themselves were also dwindling. They still had a number of vegetable plants available though, including red, yellow and orange bell peppers, eggplants, and several varieties of tomatoes.

Near the back of the park, the Garden Club had also set up a tent to sell products from their honey bee hives. The Garden Group partnered with the Best Bees Company in 2016, and is sponsoring two beehives in Marion.

Beeswax products on offer included soaps, raw honey and pure beeswax candles. According to the Garden Group, even small candles can burn up to sixteen hours.
