Gatemen meet young fans at Plumb Library
Jul 18, 2014
Members of the Wareham Gatemen baseball team visited Plumb Library on Friday to read books, answer questions and sign balls.
They also asked kids a few questions.
After one child listed the three types of pitches as curve ball, fast ball and spit ball, pitcher Liam O'Sullivan asked him how you do the latter.
"You spit on the ball and throw it," said the kid.
The Gatemen, who come from colleges across the country, said they've enjoyed being on the team this summer and exploring the area.
And the players were good sports when asked the inevitable question of how they were doing this season. They're currently ranked last in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
"We're really nice guys though," said first baseman Nick Halamandaris.
