The Medicare open enrollment period is Oct. 15 to Dec. 7 and there could be a change to insurance plans and medical costs.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 4 to 5 p.m., there will be an insurance presentation by regional representatives from S.H.I.N.E. (Serving Health Information Needs of Elders) at the Mattapoisett Council on Aging, 17 Barstow St. Changes to insurance take effect on Jan. 1. The presentation will include information on changing from the original Medicare to an advantage plan and vice versa.

The COA recommends that anyone 65 years old and up attend this session.
