Girl Scouts lead Plumb Library kids’ event

Jul 16, 2021

ROCHESTER — Rochester Girl Scout Troop 62150 paid a visit to Plumb Library on Thursday, July 15 to lead a kids’ activity of their own design, complete with arts and crafts, music, nature and, of course, reading.

Girl Scouts Abby Jacques, Allyson Alford, and Bella Antonellis led the children through the process of making their own animal masks and homemade maracas, then read them a story and played a song for them to dance and shake their maracas to.

The scouts created the animal-themed activity in honor of “Tails and Tales,” this year’s Summer Reading Program theme.

Children’s Librarian Lisa Fuller praised the girls for their work planning and leading the event and relished the opportunity to have kids playing at the library again.

“It’s been a long haul since covid,” she said. “So it’s good to see faces again.”

The activity will be held again at the library on July 21 at 10:30 a.m. and July 22 at 1:30 p.m. Registration is required and limited to 12 children per day. Visit plumblibrary.com to register and learn more.
