'Great Decisions' discussion group to begin in January

The “Great Decisions” discussion group has a number of timely topics to talk about.

All are welcome to be a part of this group, which is Sponsored by the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club, held at the Mattapoisett Library and uses material from the Foreign Policy Association.

The topics are: The future of Europe, trade and politics, conflict in the South China Sea, Saudi Arabia in transition, U.S. foreign policy and petroleum, Latin America’s political pendulum, prospects for Afghanistan and Pakistan, and nuclear security.

The discussions will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 18 and continue for eight consecutive weeks on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. The group will meet in the conference room at the Mattapoisett Library, 7 Barstow St. There is a handicap accessible entrance and elevator.

The fees for the Foreign Policy Association discussion series booklet and one two-part DVD for classroom showing, plus refreshments and a donation to the library will be $35 each. If two people share one book, the fee is $45 (for fees and one book).

Make checks payable to The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club and mail to The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club, P.O. Box 1444, Mattapoisett, MA 02739 by deadline Wednesday, Jan. 4. Note on check that it is for Great Decisions.

The class limit is 25, and sign up is first come, first served. The books will be handed out at the library 10 days prior to the first day of class.
