Independence Day fireworks will return to Marion

May 19, 2017

Fireworks will brighten the night skies over Silvershell Beach once again.

With four days left to go in its extended campaign, the Marion Fireworks Committee's Twenty from Many campaign officially reached its goal of $40,000 on Friday morning.

The listed total on the campaign's GoFundMe page is at $40,100. The 'Marion Fireworks 2017' Facebook page posted notice that the fireworks would return early Friday morning.

On Thursday, the campaign was still about $12,000 short of its goal - until Tabor Academy donated $10,000, on top of a previous donation made earlier. The large donation left the campaign only a few thousand dollars short of the goal.

The Tabor donation spurred further donations, with the small gap closed by Friday morning, and the official goal reached.

Now it's time to sit back, enjoy the fireworks, and maybe set aside $20 for the next campaign. Any donations made to the campaign now will be set aside to begin next year's campaign fund. The GoFundMe page can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/marion-fireworks.
