James G. Grant Jr., 68, of Wareham died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 27.

Jim was the loving son of the late James and Rita (Peters) Grant and grew up in Brockton with his 11 siblings. Jim’s father owned and operated the James G. Grant Company in Hyde Park and Jim was employed at the family business until his retirement. Jim was an expert crane operator and worked on many high profile domestic and international projects.

Jim enjoyed staying busy and until recently he was still assisting family and friends with small projects.  He resided with his loving partner, Carol, in Wareham for the past 15 years. Jim and Carol loved camping and were active members of the Wheeling City Sams Camping Club of New Bedford. Jim enjoyed several cross country RV trips with Carol, his beloved brother and best friend, Kevin, and his loving dog, Buddy.

He will be greatly missed by his longtime partner, Carol A. Magan, daughter Kelli G. Mahoney and her husband, Christopher of Medway, daughter Korri M. Martin and her husband, Gregory of Bridgewater, and son James G. Grant III of Boston, and grandchildren Grant, Reed, Jake, Brice, Pierce, and Kendall. Brother of Joan Swart of Brockton, Mary Jamieson of Bridgewater, Judy Hopgood of Bridgewater, Debbie Petronelli of Wareham, Kevin Grant of Rochester, Paul Grant of Bourne, and the late Jack Grant, Agnes Brown, Rita McElroy, Peggy Gurney, and David Grant.

Jim’s funeral was on Jan. 4 from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, 82 High St., Wareham.
