Join the Rochester Historical Society for backstory on historical reenactments

Jul 29, 2022

ROCHESTER – The Rochester Historical Society will feature a presentation on historical reenactments at their next meeting.

On Aug. 17 at 7 p.m., the Society will host a short meeting before a program presented by Mack and Cathy Phinney. The Phinneys do traditional reenactments that visitors may have seen at a parade, such as Memorial Day or the Fourth of July, or even just as pictures in the paper. The Phinneys focus on depicting the colonial period up to the early Revolutionary War.

At the presentation, the Phinneys will explain the basics of participating as a reenactor. They’ll go into everything from where they get the clothing and equipment to why they choose to do the reenactments.

Period refreshments will follow.

The even is located at 355 County Road, and open to anyone who would like to attend.
