MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Fire Department was dispatched to 1 Park Street at 6:35 a.m. on Sunday, April 30 for wires down with smoke in the area.

According to a Facebook post by the Mattapoisett Fire Department, “a large nest in the high tension powerlines [caused] a wide spread power outage.”

The department alerted Eversource, according to the post. 

According to the post, power was restored to the town at 8:14 a.m.

“We would like to thank Eversource for their rapid response and restoration efforts; they were able to quickly and efficiently restore power to our community,” wrote the Mattapoisett Fire Department in the post.
