Learn to crochet, play music and more at the Mattapoisett Museum

The Mattapoisett Museum is hosting workshops, readings and events for children and adults throughout the fall.

On Oct. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Mattapoisett Museum will host a Pop-Up Shop Museum Open House, which features a small craft fair on the lawn of the museum

Historian Christopher Daley will present “Mass Murders,” a one-hour lecture on Massachusetts’ most infamous murder cases, both solved and unsolved. The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 4. To request a free zoom link to the event, visit www.mattapoisettmuseum.org/events.

Join the Tri-Town Against Racism for a community reading and discussion of “An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. A second reading will take place on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Quaker Meeting House in Mattapoisett. Admission is free. 

Join instructor Jackie Sousa for “Crochet for Beginners” a class which runs every Monday from Oct. 17 to November 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Supplies to complete two projects will be provided. A portion of the ticket sales will be used to provide further programming at the museum. Space is limited.

Sing and play music with South Coast Lessons during it’s free Friday open mic at the Mattapoisett Museum. The event is held on Oct. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m.  All ages, abilities and genres of music are welcome.

For more music sit down with the Old Time Fiddle Session on Oct. 23 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Join in on the fiddling, sit and listen, or dance if you want to. All ages are welcome.
