Letter to the Editor: Rules for wearing masks

Jun 4, 2020

To the  Editor:

Enclosed/attached is a copy of the official order # COVID -19 Order. 31, dated 1 May,2020, with an effective date of Wednesday 6 May, 2020, signed by Governor Charles D. Baker. I think this memo will clear any doubt about the issue of wearing mask/cloth coverings in any public place.

The order clearly states, if a person cannot maintain a social distance of six feet from another person, that person must cover mouth and nose, EXCEPT if a person is unable to wear, a mask or face covering due to medical condition or a person is otherwise exempted by the Department of Public Health guidance.

A person who declines to wear a mask or cloth face covering because of a medical condition, SHALL NOT be required to produce documents verifying the condition.

If a customer refuses to wear a mask or cloth face covering for non-medical reasons, a business may decline entry to the individual.

Most importantly, RESPECT one another and maintain 6 feet apart whether or NOT wearing a mask.

Respectfully,
Mrs Debby Briggs
