Letter to the editor: A wonderful evening of community and gratitude

The annual summer picnic held on Thursday, August 6, was a beautiful evening filled with music, friendship, delicious food, and community spirit. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a wonderful success.

Our sincere thanks go to all who attended and supported this special gathering, as well as to the many volunteers from the Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Mattapoisett Museum. We extend special appreciation to Jane Finnerty and Matt Nilles for their extraordinary efforts and dedication.

We are also grateful to the oyster farmers, Bob Field and Bob Ward, and their large and hardworking team of shuckers, who helped make the evening so enjoyable. Many thanks to our talented musicians, Gary Brown and Seth Asser, for providing the perfect soundtrack to a lovely summer night.

We appreciate the assistance of the Mattapoisett Highway Department, Mattapoisett Harbor Master, Mattapoisett Board of Health, and Skipper Harris. Their support helped ensure that the evening ran smoothly and safely.

Thank you as well to photographer Jesse Noonan for capturing the beauty and spirit of the event, and to our generous sponsor, Eastern Bank, for its continued support.

Most of all, we thank the community for coming together to celebrate summer and support the important work of the Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Mattapoisett Museum. We look forward to gathering again next year for another memorable evening.
