The Mattapoisett Lions Club received approval from Selectmen on Tuesday to host a regular movie night at Shipyard Park.

“I’ve seen this at other communities, and it’s been very well received,” said Lions Club President Don Bamberger.

The club recently held a successful movie night during Harbor Days and thought it would be a nice family event to extend throughout the summer.

Selectmen said Friday nights were open at the park, and Bamberger suggested the movie nights could follow the bi-monthly classic car nights.

“They’d get the benefit of people going to movie night. We’d get the benefit of those going to cruise night,” Bamberger said.

The first movie night date will be set soon.
