MARION — After the first of month of its “Buck a Book” weekly book sale, Bernadette Realty Group presented a $92 check to Tri-Town Against Racism on Oct. 7 as a way to give back to the local community.

Bernadette Kelly Realty Group started its weekly “Buck a Book” sale to give the local community a place to shop for titles during the pandemic, as well as use the funds raised to donate to local charities.

“It’s great,” Broker and Associate Bernadette Kelly said, adding that it was the idea of Sales Associate Debra Tower to give the first month’s funds to the grassroots anti-racism organization.

“It’s a great a opportunity to give back and to support small organizations that are trying to keep our community on top of things,” Tower said. “It’s feel very appropo,” Kelly added. Tri-Town Against Racism co-leader Alison Noyce was on-hand to accept the donation on behalf of the organization.

In its first month, the realty group sold about 40 to 45 books and raised $46, and it was matched to raise the total to $92.

Kelly said that the book sale will continue on despite the dropping temperatures because patrons won’t be outside for that long.
