'The Lorax and You' debuts on Old Hammondtown Stage
The Old Hammondtown Drama Club debuted its production of "The Lorax and You" on Wednesday afternoon at the school.
Written and directed by Tracy Fiore, the musical is based on "The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss, a book that highlights environmental conservation.
"The Lorax and You" was no different. The story started with two sisters who decided to throw their recycling in the river after they forgot to put it out on the curb. Mother Nature puts a stop to that and sends the girls to "The Street of the Lifted Lorax."
Along the way, the girls encounter The Once-ler who cut down trees for his own gain, leaving the area bare. They also learn a lot about the importance of protecting the planet.
The students performed the play for their peers during the afternoon and for family on Wednesday evening.
