M. Edwin Strawn, 79, owner Marion Country Package Store
M. Edwin Strawn, 79, of Wareham, died Jan. 19, at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the husband of Sonia L. (Lutoff) Strawn.
Born in Wareham, he was the son of the late Elmer M. and Florence (Stringer) Strawn.
Mr. Strawn was the owner of Strawn Buick in Wareham until 1985, and then owned and operated the Marion Country Package Store in Marion for 26 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper and military police officer.
He was a member of the Wareham Lodge of Elks #1548 and the Red Men Cromesett Tribe No. 156. Mr. Strawn enjoyed bowling, parties, and loved being surrounded by family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, his children, Dwight K. Strawn of New Bedford, Theresa Antell and her husband Timothy, Thomas Strawn and his wife Elizabeth, Peter Strawn and Suzy Strawn all of Wareham; his brothers, Phillip Strawn of Wareham, Lee Strawn of Lancaster, Penn., and Bill Thieman of Missouri; his sisters, Christine Fielding of Wareham and Luanne Cudimi of New Bedford. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham, on Wednesday, January 23, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High Street, Wareham at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
