Margaret Haden, 88
Margaret (Park) Haden, 88, of Wareham, passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by family in her final days.
Peggy was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on June 3, 1925. She was the wife of the late Hulot Haden and the daughter of Ann and Thomas Park.
Peggy lived in Wareham for many years where she and her husband, Hulot, raised their seven children. She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Church where she started a children’s choir. She also served as a Girl Scout leader in the community where everyone knew and loved her.
Peggy was a successful teacher in the arts as a Pearl McGown certified instructor. She had an exceptional sense of color and traditional rug hooking was probably her greatest love. She taught night school and private lessons in her home. She also taught rug braiding and basketry. Peggy later mastered the art of Nantucket basketry.
Her greatest joy in life was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching, reading, gardening, walking, cooking, sewing and knitting. Peggy was blessed with an incredible sense of humor and had a special gift of touching many lives. She will be dearly missed and live in the hearts of many. What a beautiful difference one single life made!
She was the loving mother of Charlie Haden of Sandwich; Donna Rodriguez and her husband, Andy, of Rochester; Patti DeLoid of Plymouth; Caroline Schea and her husband Kevin of Kingston, N.H. She was predeceased by her children Bobby Haden, Beth Ann Letourneau, and Tommy Haden. She was also the loving nana of Mel Haden, Nicole McKay, Maggie Cheney, Ryan Haden, Dena Haden, Jane Peterson, Marie Webb, Andrew Rodriguez, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Joseph Rodriguez, Sean DeLoid, Chris DeLoid, Jeffrey DeLoid, Kelly Cagle, Annie DeLoid, Ben Schea and Katie Schea. Peggy was also the great-grandmother of Abbey McKay, Halle McKay, Emily Cheney, Annie Cheney, Ben Cheney, Ryan Haden, Brody Haden, Graham Haden, Kevin Peterson, Harry Webb, Joseph Webb, Ava Rodriguez, Andrew Rodriguez, Amelia Rodriguez and Emma Rodriguez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Patrick's Church in Wareham at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hope Health McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Rd. Sandwich, MA 02537.
